I’ve been blogging regularly for about 16 months now, so clearly I’m NO expert! Even though I’ve only been blogging for a short amount of time, I’ve been an avid blog reader for as long as I can remember (anyone remember LiveJournal?) Let’s face it, blogging is HARD! Even the most popular blogs weren’t build in a day (or a month or even a YEAR!) When I first started blogging I had absolutely no guidance. Luckily, this past year I’ve met some incredible bloggers and joined some amazing blogging communities that have really helped me and my blog grow.  In this new Simply Sinova series, I’m going to focus on sharing the tips I’ve learned and my own personal advice for growing your blog. Today’s tip: The Benefits of a Blog Newsletter!

1. It helps generate traffic on older posts. Even though I follow a lot of my favorite bloggers on Twitter, IG, etc., I don’t always see every single thing they post (let’s face it, those timelines can get crowded fast.) It’s hard to keep up to date with my favorite bloggers (even when using Bloglovin’) so I love getting a biweekly or monthly newsletter from them. It not only allows me to see the latest posts, but it lets me now if there are any current giveaways and what’s been going on since the last time I visited the blog. The best part is that it’s all neatly packaged and conveniently in one place. I’m more likely to go back and look at old posts if I see them in a newsletter (and I’m pretty sure a lot of people are the same way.) Newsletters are a great way to refresh readers of things you’ve posted throughout the week.
2. People CHECK their email. Not everyone checks their various social media handles every second but most people check their email constantly. It might sound crazy but it’s true. How often do you check your Facebook or Twitter throughout the day? I’m guessing you check your email more. Since important things like emails from your boss/teacher or last minute coupons come to your email, people are more likely to see your newsletter (as oppose to your twitter/Facebook feed) if it’s right there for them.
3. It’s easier to track your audience. Most email services allow you to track important information  such as clicks, emails open rates, subscription rates, unsubscribe rates, social media shares, and all that good stuff!
Of course things like social media are key for building a blog audience, but newsletters are just another great way to interact and reach your readers.
Does your blog have a newsletter/do you like subscribing to blog newsletters? What advantages/disadvantages have you experienced with blog newsletters?
