Since graduating in May, I’ve made it my mission to focus on something I kind of neglected while I was in college (class, homework, internships, freelancing and stress kind of get in the way), and that’s EXERCISE! Sure, I worked out a little bit in college (and that was really only my senior year,) but I definitely wasn’t as devoted as I am now! I’ve joined a gym, continued my daily bike/jog routine that I adopted last summer and even started yoga (which is slowly replacing my daily bike rides since winter is approaching!) I love learning and trying all types of new exercises (the funner the better!) So when my pals at Sky Zone (that AWESOME indoor trampoline park I blogged about this summer) invited me to come take a Sky Fit class, I was more that THRILLED!
Sky Fit is one of several classes and programs offered at Sky Zone. Sky Fit is low-impact (beginners are definitely welcome), healthy fun that combines calisthenics, core exercises and strength-building aerobics! Essentially, it’s a one hour class that consists of (lots of) jumping, regular exercises (like push ups, sit ups and planks), team exercises, stretches, running (and that’s only the first 30 minutes!) What I really loved about Sky Fit is while it’s intense, it’s also very manageable! You can stop ever so often to get water or to take a break if you have to (it’s not like those strict workout classes where you’ll get yelled at if you have to pause and catch your breath.) Sky Fit is offered three times at week (Mondays at 9am, Thursdays at 5pm and Saturdays at 10am.) Due to my work schedule, I opted for the Saturday class. I’ve got to be honest with you, (if you can,) you have GOT to try Sky Fit at least once in your life! It’s amazing. I definielty couldn’t do it every week but I’m thinking of doing it biweekly!
During Sky Fit you can burn up to 1,000 calories in one hour (if you put your all into and really follow along with the instructor!) Here’s how my first Sky Fit experience played out:
First 15 minutes: “This is so fun! I love doing jumping jacks. I could jump on this trampoline all day (lalalala happy thoughts!)”
15 minutes – 30 minutes: “WHAT. IS. THIS. FEELING. IN. MY LEGS. We’ve only been jumping for 30 minutes! It feels like I’m running a 5k!”
30-45 minutes: “This is so much fun! Now we’re doing jumping races on the trampoline! Who knew exercising could be so much fun! I don’t know why I wanted to quit earlier!”
45-55 minutes: “There’s that aching in my leg again! Where did all this sweat come from. Thank goodness they told us to bring towels!”
Final 5 minutes: “Yay, stretching. This reminds me of yoga! I love yoga. I feel so ALIVE! I could climb Mount Everest now! I LOVE YOU SKY FIT!”
