May was a GREAT month for movies (and screenings!) I was invited to three advance screenings in May: Pitch Perfect 2, Iris and Inside Out (which has its screening TONIGHT!) I really love getting to attend movie screenings and writing film reviews! Every time I leave a screening, I feel one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a film critic! I know I talked about this before in my ‘What Being A Blogger Has Taught Me‘ post but I wanted to urge everyone again to always remember to not only FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS but try and MAKE THOSE DREAMS A REALITY! I’ve wanted to be a film critic (and screenwriter) since I was 6 and instead of sitting around waiting for things to fall into place, I’m actively trying to make my dreams come true! The more screenings I attend, film reviews I write and people I network with, the closer I am to making my dream a reality!
I am a HUGE Beatles fan (I am SO EXCITED to see Sir Paul McCartney at Lollapalooza this July!) Seeing Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles has been on my Broadway bucket list for YEARS! It usually only comes to Chicago once a year for a week or so run in April or mid-May. Unfortunately, when it came last year, I was still in college so I wasn’t in town. I made a promise to myself that after I graduated college (which was OVER A YEAR AGO, man time flies) and moved back to Chicago, I would go the next time it came to town! I’m so HAPPY I was able to get tickets (because it sold out pretty quick!) It was AMAZING and I HIGHLY recommend seeing it!
As I mentioned on the blog two weeks ago, I spend the last week of May in DISNEYLAND! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter (shameless plug) than you’ve probably seen a few snapshots from my trip. Don’t worry though, I plan on doing several Disneyland/California Adventure posts on the blog soon!
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a HUGE activist for rescue dogs! It breaks my heart to know that so many loving animals are abandoned each day or left in shelters in search of their forever home (and don’t even get me started on those people who “buy” animals from pet stores! I know FIRST HAND that those dogs come from Puppy Mills, please don’t support that industry!) After being a dog foster parent at Paws Chicago for two years, I decided it was time to finally adopt a dog of my own. After months of preparation and searching, we finally found the perfect dog for us, a little Dachshund mix (who I named Loki!) I LOVE Loki so much! He’s the sweetest and most gentle dog I’ve ever met! I’m so happy he’s apart of my family now and I have the wonderful folks at Paws Chicago to thank for that!
I can’t believe it’s already June?! What made you happy in May?
