Last weekend (March 18-20) was the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo and boy was it AWESOME! That’s one of the things I LOVE so much about living in Chicago, there’s always something fun to do or something new to discover. Although I’ve attended Chicago Comic Con, New York Comic Con 2014 and NYCC 2015 before, this year was my first time attending the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (aka C2E2). C2E2 is a Chicago fan convention dedicated to comics, pop culture, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies, and television. So essentially, it’s similar to other “comic cons” but it’s more pop culture and entertainment based (which is right up my alley!). I had an absolute BLAST at C2E2 this past weekend (even though I only attended Saturday and Sunday). In fact, I can say in all honesty that I had a better time at C2E2 than I did at NYCC last year (for those of you who read my NYCC 2015 recap, you might recall how crazy crowded NYCC 2015 was and what an overwhelming experience it was for me!) I’m seriously already counting down until next year’s C2E2! Here are a few of my favorite photos from C2E2 2016: Any day I get to meet Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker is a good day in my book! Hey look it’s Kylo Ren, I mean Matt! Ever since Adam Driver hosted SNL, I’ve been obsessed with the Star Wars Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base skit (I’ve seen it countless times and it still makes me giggle!). It’s always fun seeing people cosplaying as Matt aka Kylo Ren. When I visited Disneyland back in February I saw a little boy dressed up as Matt aka Kylo Ren and it was the cutest thing ever! Eevee will FOREVER be my favorite Pokemon! Side note: all this Eevee stuff gave me major flashbacks to New York Comic Con 2014 when I was in Eevee merchandise heaven (although, there was actually more Eevee merchandise at C2E2 than at New York Comic!). There was the most ADORABLE Waddles plushie (bigger than the one pictured above) at C2E2 but I didn’t get it (I’m saving all of my money for my trip to Disneyland Paris next month because Disney merch > everything. Even though Gravity Falls merch technically is Disney merch but you know what I mean!). Gizmo is SO adorable and yet so creepy at the same time! I was surprised to see so much Zootopia cosplay at C2E2 seeing as the film just came out earlier this month! How adorable is that Judy Hoops cosplay?! I LOVED her little carrot gun (which she said was just a regular water gun that she painted orange. How clever!). I’m a HUGE Hayao Miyazaki fan so it always puts a smile on my face when I see Studio Ghibli cosplay (that No Face looks so awesome!). Just your average lightsaber battle between Finn and Kylo Ren. No big deal. Vintage Disney lunch boxes are my weakness (basically anything Disney related is my weakness!). There were so many adorable vintage lunch boxes for sell at C2E2 (my personal favorite was this hot rod Mickey and Minnie one!). There was so much amazing cosplay going on at C2E2 but this family took the cake! How AWESOME is this Inside Out cosplay?! They even included Riley (which is something you don’t see too often!). See you next year C2E2!
Have you ever been to Comic Con (any version or city) or a big expo convention? (Any fellow Comic Con lovers? Make sure to check out my New York Comic 2014 and NYCC 2015 recaps!).
