*Special thanks to Mitsubishi for letting me test drive the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander*
Temperatures dropping below 15 degrees. Almost a foot and a half of snow on the ground. Schools closing. Yup, it’s definitely wintertime in Chicago. Just because it’s freezing right now in Chicago doesn’t mean it’s time to go into hibernation. Some of the city’s best attractions are located indoors!
With snow piled high and the combination of slippery and icy roads, reliable transportation is a MUST during Chicago winters. Enter the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL S-AWD! From its sleek design to its awesome gas mileage, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL S-AWD was able to help me navigate the harsh Chicago winter with ease.
Here’s some of my favorite things about the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander:
The Mitsubishi Outlander comes with Super All-Wheel Control which combines several advanced technologies to give you maximum traction. This definitely came in handy since Chicago recently saw over 11 inches of snowfall. Not only did the car drive super smoothly through the icy streets, it was also able to successfully cruise through the snow-filled alleys.
One of the biggest pluses about the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander were the heated front seats. After entering the car from the harsh winter weather, it felt amazing having the seats heat up. I don’t think I can praise those heated seats enough. Why isn’t this a thing in EVERY car?
The Mitsubishi Outlander also has an optional 3rd row (making it a seven seater) which is super ideal for large families, carpools or those who want to have a fun friends weekend.
The multi-view camera system was another one of my favorite features. This advanced feature uses multiple cameras around the vehicle to create a wide-angle and bird’s-eye view of your vehicle, helping to show what’s directly behind you.
The 2018 Outlander also comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch touch screen, HD Radio, a USB port, and Bluetooth.
I’m so glad I was able to test drive the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander because it made exploring Chicago super easy, despite the harsh winter weather conditions!
Here’s four fun things to do in Chicago during the winter:
1. Head To A Museum. Not only do a plethora of world-class museums call Chicago home but a lot of them offer FREE admission/discount days. Two of my personal favorite museums, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Art Institute of Chicago, offer free admission on Tuesdays (the MCA) and Thursdays (Art Institute) to Illinois residents!
2. See A Broadway Show. Chicago’s cultural offerings are second to none, and its theatre scene is easily one of the best perks of living in the city! Something I really love about the Broadway scene here in Chicago is the fact that there’s always a ton of great promotions going on so it’s easy to save money on tickets. One of my favorite monthly promotions is Broadway in Chicago’s “$25 on the 25th” deal. Each month on the 25th, Broadway in Chicago sells $25 tickets to select shows (but tickets sale out fast so make sure to jump on this deal as soon as it hits midnight on the 25th!).
3. Grab Some Deep Dish Pizza. No one does pizza quite like Chicago. Being able to grab some of Chicago’s famous deep dish pizza at any given time is a huge perk of living in Chicago (I recommend trying Pizzeria Uno or Lou Malnati’s, they make the BEST deep dish pizza in my opinion!).
4. Explore Different Neighborhoods. Did you know that there are more than 200 neighborhoods in Chicago (we’re known as the “City of neighborhoods” for a reason!)? I love how each different neighborhood has its own unique vibe and feel to it.
What are some of your favorite winter activities?
