My mother is truly my best friend and my favorite person in the world. We do everything together. We travel together (she’s my favorite Disney buddy), we shop together, we hang out together. We’re truly two peas in a pod. As my mom is getting older, nothing concerns me more than her health.

You see, my mom has been experiencing blood sugar spikes for a while now. I love my mom dearly but even I can admit that she’s not the best when it comes to blood sugar management. Well, at least she used to not be. Now Lilo (my mom) is slowly but surely taking the right steps in managing her blood sugar spikes and sugar cravings.

Here’s some of the steps she’s taking:

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may recall that a few months ago I shared that Lilo had to be rushed to the emergency room after she passed out briefly. One of the several causes for this episode was high blood sugar. This was a huge wake up call for Lilo and ever since then both she and I have been looking into ways to better help her manage her blood sugar.
Glucerna
Enter GlucernaGlucerna is one of the many ways Lilo has been working on managing her blood sugar. She loves that Glucerna is Carbsteady. (Meaning slowly digestible carbohydrates designed to help minimize blood sugar spikes). She always loves how Glucerna comes in several delicious flavors. (Her favorite at the moment is rich chocolate).Glucerna
Lilo is a junior high teacher, so she’s constantly on her feet. Whether she’s helping out some of her six graders or writing high school recommendation letters for her eighth graders, she’s always go, go, go.

Being up and about constantly sometimes causes Lilo to have to miss or skip lunch, which isn’t good for her blood sugar. That’s one of the reasons she loves Glucerna. For those, like Lilo, who are struggling with blood sugar management, replacing one meal or snack per day with Glucerna is a great way to manage hunger and blood sugar spikes.GlucernaGlucernaWhile her students are at recess or are simply working on an assignment, Lilo loves being able to grab a Glucerna. It’s the small steps that help make big change! And Glucerna is definitely helping Lilo control and better manage her blood sugar.GlucernaGlucernaSince it’s only minutes away from her school, Lilo always swings by Walmart when she needs to restock her Glucerna supply.Glucerna
Good thing there’s a mini refrigerator right in Lilo’s classroom! It makes grabbing a Glucerna throughout the day all that easier!
