12 Months of Happiness: October 2019

October 31, 2019

John Leguizamo Latin History for Morons Broadway in ChicgaoHappy Thursday and welcome back to my 12 Months of Happiness series. Today’s Halloween, so happy Halloween everyone! Anyone got any fun plans for tonight? I actually “celebrated” Halloween this past weekend. I went to some haunted houses with friends. I also already went Trick-or-Treating at Magic Kingdom during Mickey’s Not to Scary Halloween Party so….. But today is my office Halloween party so that should be fun!

I hope everyone has an amazing Halloween and remember, be safe out there.

Here are some of the things that made October an amazing month: (Don’t forget to comment down below how your October went and what things made you smile this month! I LOVE hearing from you guys about what makes you happy!)

Best restaurants in Chicago: Chi Tung hibachi

Starting a new job + Celebrating a work anniversary…Made Me HAPPY. This month I started a new job (well, a new position within my company) as well as celebrated my one year work anniversary (with that company). It’s crazy to think I’ve only been with my company for a year and yet I’ve gotten three promotions/held two different titles. It’s so amazing when you get to work for a company that wants to see you succeed and growth within that company.

I celebrated by having dinner at one of my favorite restaurants: Chi Tung!

2019 Chicago Teachers Union Strike

The Chicago Teacher’s Union Strike…Made Me HAPPY. Now, I want to preface this by saying I’m not “happy” that Chicago Public School teachers are on strike. However, I am so proud that the Chicago Teachers Union is fighting for better contacts and fighting for a better education for the students. If you guys didn’t know, my mom is a CPS teacher and I went to CPS schools by whole life (outside of college of course).

Go CPS teachers!

Best restaurants in Chicago: Barrio Mexican Restaurant

Hanging out my sisters…Made Me HAPPY. With work, trying to maintain a social life, running this blog and all that jazz it can sometimes be hard to make time for family. That’s why I was so happy to have a fun dinner with my sisters this month. We went to Barrio Mexican Restaurant and man was it AMAZING!

An Intimate Evening With Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen Chicago

An Intimate Evening With Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen…Made Me HAPPY. I love Andy Cohen (oddly enough I’m not a huge fan of the Real Housewives though) and Anderson Cooper, so seeing them live was AMAZING! They are so hilarious together. A must see if they are in your city!

John Leguizamo Latin History for Morons Broadway in Chicgao

Winning Opening Night tickets to see John Leguizamo’s Latin History for Morons…Made Me HAPPY. This month I won opening night tickets to see Latin History for Morons. I highly recommend seeing it regardless of your ethic background. I myself am not Latin (I’m black + white) however I found it to be so eye opening. It’s disgusting how the the rich history of so many minorities is legitimately erased or simply left out of our history books/the media.

Latin American/African American history IS American history!

Mrs Fields Halloween Pikachu Cookie Cake

Halloween…Made Me HAPPY. Even though today is Halloween, I’m positive I’ll have a great day today and thus, it will make me happy. Also, can we please talk about that Pikachu as Jason Voorhees cookie cake? STOP! How adorable? My friends got me that to celebrate my new position at work!

Here’s a few other things that made me happy in October:

  • I got opening night (Thursday night) tickets for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It’s a good thing I did too because most Thursday night showings are now sold out!
  • RuPaul’s Drag Race UK premiered (I’m really loving it so far! That snatch game might have been the best snatch game ever!).
  • I bought my tickets for Mickey’s Christmas Party. (See you in December Disney World!).
  • The Andy Warhol–From A to B and Back Again exhibition opened at The Art Institute of Chicago! (I haven’t gone yet but I plan on going next week!).

I can’t believe tomorrow is November!? What made you happy in October?
