Monday’s Music 19 [1992 Edition]

August 10, 2015

Happy Monday! This past week was HECTIC! Since I’m traveling to DC this week (Thursday) and then to Disney World the following week, I had to make sure all my ducks were in a row for work since I essentially won’t be back home in Chicago until early September. I also had to make sure I had a few blog posts lined up over the next two weeks/while I’m traveling so there won’t be huge gaps between postings. Along with working and blogging, I’m also a freelance writer and since my deadlines fall on the Monday I’m still in DC and the Friday I’m at Disney World (and I want to enjoy my trips and not have to worry about working), I also spent a good chunk of the weekend catching up on articles. (I want to point out that I’m in no way complaining. I LOVE the fact that my job(s) allows me the flexibility to travel often, it’s just that this week was extremely stressful and if you can’t vent on your own blog, where can you vent?) On to this weeks Monday’s Music, which is dedicated to top songs from the year I was born: 1992!
Monday's Music Best Songs from 1992Black Or White – Michael Jackson // I’ll Be There (feat. Trey Lorenz) – Mariah Carey // Real Love – Mary J. Monday’s Music 18 [Lollapalooza 2015 Edition]

July 27, 2015

Happy Monday! I’m so EXCITED because this weekend is LOLLAPALOOZA! Although I’ve been to dozens of Lollapalooza after shows (my favorites were definitely Lana Del Rey, The Lumineers, Young the Giant and Two Door Cinema Club), I’ve never experienced the entire festival (the most I’d ever gone was one day.) This year I decided to FINALLY get three day passes and I couldn’t be happier! So in honor of Lolla, this week’s Monday’s Music is dedicated to the nine artists I’m most excited about seeing live this weekend: Paul McCartney, Of Monsters and Men, Florence + The Machine, Marina & the Diamonds, GIVERS, Sam Smith, WALK THE MOON, Alabama Shakes and MisterWives (that’s not to say there aren’t more artists I’m excited about seeing. I’m excited about almost EVERYONE performing at Lolla this year!)

Monday’s Music 17 [Disney Pre-Renaissance(1970-88) Edition]

July 20, 2015

Happy Monday! Welcome to another edition of ‘Monday’s Music.’ I have to admit that I’ve been a little inconstant when it comes to this series. While it started out as a biweekly series, lately its turned into a once a month kind of thing. I feel terrible about slacking off on this series (especially since I love making these playlists so much,) but I’m happy to announce that staring next week, you can expect a Monday’s Music playlist EVERY other Monday for the rest of the year (if you’d like to see a certain playlist theme, make sure to leave a comment down below!) Continuing on with my Disney Playlists (I had so much fun putting together my favorite songs from Disney’s Golden Age,) this week’s top songs all come from Disney’s Pre-Renaissance era aka the era of Disney’s most UNDERRATED films (seriously, how many people do you know who love or even like Robin Hood, The Black Cauldron or The Great Mouse Detective?) Sure, NOTHING beats the Disney Renaissance, but I think it’s crazy how little respect Disney’s Pre-Renaissance era gets (I happen to love the films of this era!)Why Should I Worry – Oliver & Company // Heffalumps And Woozles – The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh // Best of Friends – The Fox and the Hound // Ev’rybody Wants to Be a Cat – The Aristocats // Love – Robin Hood // Once Upon a Time in New York City – Oliver & Company // World’s Greatest Criminal Mind – The Great Mouse Detective // Someone’s Waiting for You – The Rescuers // Good Company – Oliver & Company  Continue reading

Monday’s Music 16 [Summer Edition]

June 29, 2015

Happy Monday everyone! This week’s ‘Monday’s Music‘ is dedicated to Summer songs but not just “regular” Summer songs, songs that remind me of summertime (if that makes sense!) This might shock a lot of people but Summer is actually my least favorite season. Fall has that gorgeous weather and beautifully colored leaves. Winter has Christmas, holiday magic, lots of pretty decorations and snuggling in front of the fireplace. Spring is my birthday season so it’s obviously the best but Summer…Summer is just I don’t know. Sure I LOVE Summer. I love barbecues and beach bonfires. I love the music festivals and countless late nights spent with friends and family but to me, Summer doesn’t compare to the other three seasons. It’s to hot in the Summer but nevertheless, here are the nine songs that ALWAYS remind me of Summer:
Best Summer Songs Playlist
Summertime – Will Smith & DJ Jazzy Jeff / Blurred Lines – Robin Thicke // Summertime Sadness – Lana Del Rey // I Want You Back – Jackson 5 // Island in the Sun – Weezer // In the Summertime – Mungo Jerry // Dancing In The Street – Martha & The Vandellas // California Girls – Beach Boys // Talk – Coldplay

Monday’s Music 15 [Disney Golden Age (1938 – 1967) Edition]

May 11, 2015

Happy Monday everyone! To celebrate the fact that I’ll be at DISNEYLAND next week for the 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration, this weeks ‘Monday’s Music‘ is dedicated to, of course, DISNEY! Since I had such a blast doing the different decade countdown playlists, I thought I’d do the same thing but with Disney. Similar to the decade playlists, I will breakdown Disney films into different era’s (since it would be IMPOSSIBLE to choose only 9 favorite Disney songs in general!) For the first Disney Monday’s Music playlist, I’ll be focusing on the Golden Age of Disney (aka everything before 1970.) With that being said, here are my favorite songs from Disney’s Golden Age:
Monday's Music, Best Disney Songs, Songs from Disney Golden Age
In a World of My Own – Alice in Wonderland // Second Star to the Right – Peter Pan // When You Wish Upon a Star – Pinocchio // The Bare Necessities – The Jungle Book // Little April Shower – Bambi // A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes – Cinderella // Bella Notte – Lady and the Tramp // Baby Mine – Dumbo // Once Upon a Dream – Sleeping Beauty
