A Visit to Washington, D.C’s Newseum

January 26, 2016

The Newseum
Some of you may or may not know this but I graduated (in 2014) with a B.A. in Journalism and have always had a love for news, politics (which led me to graduating with a minor in Political Science) and current events! Although I’ve always loved reading and writing and a lot of my high school teachers suggested I study/major in English, I am so HAPPY I went with journalism! The skills I learned through my journalism courses definitely helped me to become a better thinker, writer, listener, speaker, problem solver and it honestly helped me realize my passions for the commutations field as a whole. During my sophomore year in college, I had a journalism course where we would start each class by looking at “Today’s Front Pages” from the Newseum’s website and have a group discussion. The more I used the recourses from the Newseum’s site, the more I fell in love with it. I mean, a museum dedicated solely to news?!! Where had this place been all my life? Oddly enough, I had visited Washington D.C. several times and never got the chance to visit the Newseum, so I made it my mission to finally visit during my trip to D.C. last August. Sadly, I thought I had lost these images (hence why I didn’t post about this five months ago. I’m always misplacing those darn memory cards) but last weekend when I was reorganizing my room, I found the missing memory card (hooray!)  Continue reading

Madame Tussauds Washington D.C.

Last month during my trip to Washington D.C., I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Madame Tussauds (special thanks to the amazing folks at Madame Tussauds DC for providing me with complimentary tickets!) Whenever I visit New York City, I always say I’m going to check out Madame Tussauds but I never seem to have the time (I’m always to busy museum hopping or seeing a broadway show or two) so I made it my mission to stop by when I was in D.C. Since I’d never been to Madame Tussauds (or any wax figure museum for that matter) before, I was really excited to see what it would be like! Continue reading

The Pizza Press

The-Pizza-Press
Located directly across the street from Disneyland lies one of my (and my mom’s) favorite Anaheim eateries: The Pizza Press! The Pizza Press is an adorable little pizza place where you can choose from their yummy recipes or build your own pizza. We discovered the Pizza Press on our first night in Anaheim (since it was right next to our hotel) and instantly fell in love. In fact, the Pizza Press became our go-to daily (yes, DAILY) lunch spot during our five day Disneyland trip. After spending a few hours at the parks, we’d run over to the Pizza Press, have lunch, rest for an hour in our hotel room and then head back to Disney for the rest of the day. It was so funny because we weren’t the only ones with this idea. The Pizza Press was constantly filled with people wearing Mickey ears and Disney gear. The employees were so nice that they even allowed us to use our Disney pass holders discount (15% off food) our first time visiting even though they aren’t affiliated with Disney (they also gave us another discount since it was my mom’s birthday one of the days we were in California!) How To Plan The Ultimate Spur Of The Moment Vacation

July 24, 2015

*Special thanks to Booking.com for sponsoring today’s post. As always, all opinions are my own*
Traveling is definitely my FAVORITE hobby and thankfully I have a job that gives me the freedom and flexibility to travel OFTEN! Case in point, earlier this year (January) I had only three days (that’s right THREE DAYS) to plan, organize and book a trip to New York City after finding out I’d been selected to attend a live taping of Saturday Night Live. Not wanting to let this amazing opportunity pass me by (I have a friend who has been trying to get SNL tickets for the past 7 years with no luck,) I decided to drop everything and wing it (and I’ve got to say it was the best decision of my life!) Seeing SNL live was something that had been on my bucket list since I was seven years old! Although I’m a HUGE traveler (in fact, I have a trip planned every month from August to April 2016,) that was the first time I’d ever done anything so spontaneous! I learned a lot from that experience but the biggest take away was that sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. Sometimes plans fall apart and schedules change, so why not live in the moment? Why not drop everything and just GO! I would have regretted not winging it and flying to NYC (I literally got back Monday at 10AM and went to work at 11AM) and crossing off seeing SNL from my bucket list (it was AMAZING, one of the best nights of my life!) Disney California Adventure Mickey's Fun Wheel
Happy Friday! Man, this week has been CRAZY! I know I say that a lot on this blog but I seriously can’t wait for this week to be over. I’ve been working non-stop, taking on more freelance jobs than usual AND I had a little scare this week with my puppy Loki (he wasn’t eating but we took him to the vet yesterday and thankfully all is well!) In order words, I’m in desperate need of a break. So I thought what better way to relax than going through my photos from my trip to California last month. Since I shared a few photos from my trip to Disneyland last week, this week I’ve decided to share some of my favorite photos from California Adventure:  Continue reading
