Happy Monday/Earth Day/birthday to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Fun fact: Animal Kingdom was my favorite park when I was a kid (now as an adult, Epcot is my favorite). I remember watching the news and seeing updates on how the Tree of Life was going to be built and how it was going to look. I even got to visit Animal Kingdom during it’s opening year back in 1998. Even though I was only six at the time, I will never forget the first time I laid eyes on the Tree of Life.
I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped to the ground.
Even to this day, 21 years later, the Tree of Life is still one of the most beautiful sights in all of Disney World. To honor one of my favorite parks, on their 21st birthday (DAK can finally drink!), I wanted to share a few photos from my recent trip to Disney World last week!
Happy Tuesday! I JUST got back from an impromptu trip to Disney World (last minute trips are always my favorite) and boy was it amazing (as always!). One of my favorite things about Disney is that no matter how many times I visit (which, trust me, is a lot! In the past two years alone I’ve visited 20+ times), there’s always something new to see and explore. This trip I was super exited to finally be able to visit Pandora – The World of Avatar, which is the newest land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Although I’m not the biggest Avatar fan (I think the film was a visual masterpiece and I’m glad I got to experience it in IMAX 3D when it first came out but story wise, it was a little forgettable in my opinion), I thought that Pandora was breathtaking and a definite must see! Trust me, you do not have to be an Avatar fan to be able to appreciate all the beauty Pandora has to offer! Speaking of things Pandora has to offer, along with getting to experience the two new rides in Pandora, I was really excited to try out some of the new Avatar-inspired food during my visit! I am having SERIOUS Disney World withdrawals right now (side note, I’m so EXCITED for my trip to Disneyland NEXT WEEK), so I thought it would be fun to talk about one of my favorite restaurants at WDW here on the blog today. In fact, since I visit the Disney Parks so often (and have eaten at a good majority of the restaurants at Disney), I plan on sharing quite a few Disney restaurant reviews in the coming weeks. This might sound odd but one of my favorite things about visiting Disney World (and Disney in general) is the FOOD! While most people probably associate Disney with other amusement parks and think it’s all about the rides, us Disney Parks lovers know the truth. Disney is SO much more than just rides. What makes a visit to the Disney Parks so magical is the Disney atmosphere itself and that atmosphere consists of the rides, parades, shows, fireworks, shopping and of course, the FOOD! What I love so much about a lot of the Disney restaurants is their unique theming and when it comes to awesome theming, great decor and AMAZING food, Yak & Yeti definitely comes to mind. Located inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Yak & Yeti is a restaurant and quick-service eatery featuring delicious (and I mean DELICIOUS) Pan-Asian cuisine. Continue reading
