Scarlett’s Steakhouse Review | Carnival Valor

February 6, 2017

Scarlett's Steakhouse Review
As some of you may recall, I went on my first ever cruise (to the Bahamas) in November (technically the cruise set sail October 30 but it ended in November so..). Before setting sail on my cruise, I would have never pegged myself as a “cruise person” but I had such a blast that I’m actually in the process of planning another cruise (possibly during the summertime!). One of my favorite things about my cruise (besides getting to explore the Bahamas obviously) definitely had to be all the yummy food! Seriously, there was SO much delicious food and awesome eateries aboard the Carnival Valor. While there are a variety of dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner such as Guy’s Burger Joint (which I LOVED), buffets, a 24-hour Pizzeria, 24-hour soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt and 24-hour Room Service (which I HIGHLY suggest you take advance of) that ARE included in the price of your cruise, there are a hand full of restaurants and specialty dinning options that are not included in the cruise price (before setting sail, make sure to familiarize yourself with what is and is not included in the price of your cruise). Since this was my first cruise, and I wanted to try and experience every aspect of cruising, I decided to try out at least one “specialty dining” experience while abroad the Carnival Valor. So, I decided to spend the final night of my cruise (as a sort of last hurrah) dinning at Scarlett’s Steakhouse. Continue reading

Shopping at The Nassau Straw Market | Bahamas

Nassau Bahamas
Although the weather today isn’t that bad (and it’s not suppose to snow again until Christmas, although I’ll already be in Paris by then), yesterday was one of the coldest days in Chicago in December thus far! At one point yesterday, thanks to the wind, it felt like -15 degrees in parts of the city. In fact, in the 10 minutes it took to shovel the snow in front of my house, my entire hands almost froze completely (and I was wearing THICK gloves!). I’m so happy that it’s going to be in the high 40s/low 50s while I’m in Paris later this week/during the holidays! All this chilly weather instantly brought me back to last month when I was sipping daiquiris and sitting poolside in the Bahamas! If you’ve checked out some of my other cruise posts then you’ll know that during my Carnival cruise, I got to spend two (wonderful) days in Nassau. I spent the first day really exploring and getting to know the island and I spent the second day exploring Atlantis Paradise Island Resort (you can check that out HERE!). Continue reading

Exploring Atlantis Paradise Island Resort | Bahamas

Atlantis Paradise Island Resort
Happy Friday (aka Gilmore Girls Revival Day. Raise your hand if you’re also spending the day watching Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life. UPDATE: I just finished watching the Gilmore Girls revival and it was AMAZING! I truly loved every second of it). One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving is getting to spend time with my family and catch up with/hear about all of the wonderful things that my loved ones have been up to lately. I found myself spending a majority of yesterday sharing with my family and loved ones lots of details about the trip I took to the Bahamas earlier this month (I’m still having a “pinch me” moment about that trip!). So, I decided to share a little bit more about my trip to the Bahamas (and Carnival Cruise) here on the blog as well (you can check out my two previous cruise posts HERE). During my Carnival cruise, I got to spend two (wonderful) days in Nassau. I spent the first day really exploring and getting to know the island (I’ll share more about that in a later post) and I spent the second day exploring Atlantis Paradise Island Resort! 10 Things To Know Before Going On Your First Cruise

November 11, 2016

fullsizerender-1500x1125-9-29-18-pmAs most you know, I just got back from my first cruise last week (and it was AWESOME). Before my cruise, I spent countless hours researching the do’s and dont’s of cruising. To say I was a little nervous about my first cruise would be an understatement. I didn’t know what to pack (or not pack), what the boarding process would be like or really what to expect at all if I’m being honest.

Luckily for me, my extensive research really helped out and I had an absolute blast on the cruise. In fact, my first cruise experience went so well that I’m in the process of booking another cruise for this summer. I just think that cruises are such a fun and unique way to get out and explore the world (and as you can clearly tell from my constant traveling, I LOVE exploring new places!). Even though I only have one cruise under my belt (so far), I thought it would be helpful to share a few tips for those  who haven’t been on a cruise yet but are seriously considering it.

Here’s 10 things you should know before going on your first cruise: Continue reading

A Tour of the Carnival Valor Cruise Ship + Balcony Stateroom

I don’t know how the weathers been where you’re from but it’s been unseasonably warm here in Chicago (hey, no complaints here). Well, let me rephrase that. It hasn’t really been unseasonably warm, we’ve actually been experiencing pretty normal fall weather (high 60’s, low 70s), it’s just weather you’d expect in early fall (September/October) as apposed to late fall. Speaking of weather, Chicago gets a bad rep sometimes for always being “cold” or “windy” (fyi, we’re called the Windy City because of our politicians NOT because of our weather) but Chicago actually has beautiful weather most of the time. In fact, places like NYC and other east coast cities, on average, are way colder/have worst weather (remember that Snowmageddon that hit last year? Well Chicago was spared of that. Honestly we didn’t get that much snow at all last winter!). It just kind of bothers me when I hear people say “I hear Chicago is a beautiful city but I couldn’t handle that weather.” I just want laugh because our weather isn’t bad at all. Speaking of good weather, I just got back from my cruise to the Bahamas and wow, was it amazing! I couldn’t have asked for a better first cruise experience and I honestly think that the Carnival Valor had a lot to do with making my first cruise go as smoothly as it did! Continue reading
