Lollapalooza 2016 (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ellie Goulding, J. Cole + MORE)

Lollapalooza 2016
Happy Wednesday! I can’t believe it’s August already (seriously, where is the time going?!). I’m super excited because in less than two weeks I’ll be back at my second home, Disney World! BUT, that’s not all! I’ll also be visiting Universal Studios while I’m in Florida (I’ve decided to become an annual passholder there since I’m a Disney annual passholder and visit the area so often) which means I get to FINALLY explore Springfield, U.S.A and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter again! Enough about this month though, let’s talk about July! Last weekend was Lollapalooza and although it was AMAZING, my feet are killing me right now (but trust me, it was worth the pain!). Even though Lolla was four days this year (in celebration of their 25th anniversary), it seems like it went by super fast (you know what they say, time flies when you’re having fun!). Similar to last year’s Lollapalooza recap,  I’ve decided to combine all four days into one post (so be prepared for a little bit of a photo overload).  Continue reading

July 26, 2016

Thank you Cottonelle® for sponsoring this post. Stay clean and confident while you rock out with Cottonelle® with CleanRipple® Texture at Lollapalloza in Chicago!Surviving Lollapalooza Weekend
I can’t believe Lollapalooza is only TWO days away! Although I’ve been going to Lolla after shows for almost four years now, this year will be my second time attending the entire festival. Even though I’m always excited when Lollapalooza comes to town, this year my excitement level is through the roof! Since this year is Lollapalooza’s 25th anniversary, the festival is going to be held for FOUR days instead of three (an extra day of Lolla?! YES PLEASE!). There are a TON of amazing artists performing this year but I’m most excited to see Lana Del Rey (this will be my third time seeing her live), the 1975, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, Melanie Martinez (I love her SO much), M83, Alessia Cara, Miike Snow, HAIM, Jack Garratt, Halsey and Two Door Cinema Club (to name a few!). Over the years, I’ve definitely picked up a few tricks and tips that have helped my overall Lolla experience. Here are my ten tips for surviving Lollapalooza weekend: Continue reading

Music Festival / Lollapalooza Must Have Items

July 8, 2016

Must Haves for LollapaloozaHappy Friday (hooray for the weekend). I can’t believe that Lollapalooza is only three weeks away! I know I’ve said this a few times on the blog before but when it comes to summertime in Chicago,  Lollapalooza is definitely one of my FAVORITE events! There are a TON of amazing artists performing this year but I’m most excited to see Lana Del Rey (this will be my third time seeing her live), the 1975, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, Melanie Martinez, M83, Alessia Cara, Miike Snow, HAIM, Jack Garratt, Halsey and Two Door Cinema Club (to name a few!). Although I’ve been going to Lolla after shows for almost four years now, last year was my first time attending the entire festival (I’m so excited because since this year is Lollapalooza’s 25th anniversary, the festival is going to be held for FOUR days instead of three!). If I learned anything from my 2015 Lolla experience, it was what to bring and what NOT to bring to the festival (i.e no selfie sticks or outside food, UNLESS it’s a sealed water bottle!). Here are a few of my “Must Haves” for Lollapalooza: Continue reading

Lollapalooza 2015 (Paul Mccartney, Sam Smith, Florence + The Machine)

Lollapalooza 2015
Happy Monday! Okay, here’s the thing. I planned on posting my Lollapalooza recap the Monday after the music festival (which was held July 31-August 2) but for the LIFE of me, I couldn’t find my camera (since most musical festivals don’t allow professional/DSLR cameras, I had to bring my point and shoot.) Thankfully while I was packing for Disney World (I’m there right now so make sure to follow me on snapchat at simplysinova for lots of Disney World fun) I found it! Although I’ve lived in Chicago basically my whole life, this was my first time getting three day passes for Lolla. Even though I’d been to dozens of Lollapalooza after shows before and had even gotten a single day Lolla pass in the past, I never wanted to commit to getting three day passes. Since I had such an AMAZING time covering the iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party last summer, I knew this year I wanted to finally give Lollapalooza a try! Since I didn’t get many (good) photos (since you can’t bring DSLR/professional cameras into the festival), I’ve decided to combine all three days into one post.

Young the Giant + The So So Glos (feat. GROUPLOVE)

August 4, 2014

Exactly one year after seeing Lana Del Rey in concert, I found myself back at the House of Blues to see another one of my favorite artists: Young the Giant! I love when Lollapalooza’s in town because there are so many amazing bands to see! Not just at the festival itself, but there are dozens of great after shows. Saturday, I had the wonder opportunity to see the Young the Giant and So So Glos Lollapalooza after show (featuring a very special surprise guest!) Sorry in advance for the photo overload! I took about 200 pictures throughout the 3 1/2 hour (yes, it was that long) concert, so narrowing it down was pretty difficult.

The So So Glos are a punk rock band that formed in 2007 in Brooklyn, New York. I didn’t know much about this band prior to Saturday, but I enjoyed seeing them perform. They had a very old school punk sound to them that you don’t hear much today. They started off with their song Wrecking Ball and I was surprised at how much I liked it. Sure, I like bands like the Ramones, The Clash and the Sex Pistols, but I wouldn’t call myself a huge punk rock fan (although I did take a History of Punk Rock course in college.) I’m glad to see that bands like the So So Glos are keeping punk rock alive!  Continue reading
