Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes Exhibit at The Franklin Institute

August 9, 2019

Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes Exhibit at The Franklin Institute It’s no secret that I love all things Disney. And by all things Disney, I mean ALL things Disney. That includes: Pixar, Star Wars, The Muppets and of course Marvel. Although, I was a huge Marvel fan way before Disney purchased them. Or before Iron Man and the start of the MCU. (Marvel Cinematic Universe for all the non-Disney speakers). My love of Marvel started way back in the 90’s when I was just a little girl.

Growing up I LOVED X-Men. Love might not even be a strong enough word. I’ve mentioned this several times on the blog before but I even wanted to bleach a strip of my hair white when I was a kid so I could look like Rouge. I loved anything X-Men related. The comic books, the animated TV shows, the live-action films, video games. If it was X-Men, I watch/owned it!

Yup, my love for Marvel goes way back.

Exploring The Philadelphia Museum of Art

June 7, 2019

Philadelphia Museum of ArtFunny story…remember when I shared THIS post back in December about visiting Philadelphia during the holidays? In that post I said that I would be doing a separate post all about my trip to The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Well, it looks like I never did it (insert shocked emoji face). I honestly didn’t even realize it until I was deleting photos from my camera last weekend and went “Did I ever even share these photos on the blog?”. Yikes.

Since I’m heading to Philly next weekend, I thought I might as well (finally) share more about my visit to The Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Just a little preface, neither of the two exhibitions I’m going to be highlighting are still ongoing. They both closed back in March. BUT they were both amazing and definitely still worth sharing! The two exhibitions I’m going to talking about today are the Fabulous Fashion: From Dior’s New Look to Now and Little Ladies: Victorian Fashion Dolls and the Feminine Ideal exhibits.

Now onto the post!

Christmas Around the World | Museum of Science and Industry

Christmas Around the World at the Museum of Science and Industry
No one does Christmas quite like the Museum of Science and Industry. That’s one of the things I love so much about living in Chicago, the city really does go all out during the holidays. One of my favorite holiday traditions is visiting the Christmas Around the World exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. I’ve been visiting this exhibit since I was a little girl. Usually my school would take a field trip to the museum during December to see the exhibit, but field trip or not, my family always made sure to make a special trip to see this exhibit!

Even though visiting Christmas Around the World has been a tradition of mine for the last 23 years, it dawned on me that I’ve never dedicated a blog post to this festive exhibit! (Whoops, my bad!). So today, I wanted to share a few (who am I kidding this post has over 200 photos) photos from my visit a few weeks ago! Warning, this post is VERY photo heavy. So like Scar would say… BE PREPARED!

But seriously, there’s like 200 photos in this post. You have been warned…

The Science Behind Pixar at The Museum of Science and Industry‎

The Science Behind Pixar at The Museum of Science and Industry‎
Ah summer, how I loathe you. No really, summer is definitely my least season. I seriously don’t understand why people love summer so much. Well, let me rephrase that. I don’t understand why adults love summer so much.

When you’re a kid/in school, sure summer is great because you get a three month break, but it’s not like adults get a “summer break.” You still have to go to work (unless you’re a teacher or a job that’s not year round). Maybe it’s because I prefer cooler weather but I just don’t get the appeal of summer.

Regardless, one thing I DO enjoy about summer is all of the fun events that come to Chicago. The Taste of Chicago, Lollapalooza, countless Broadway shows, fun new exhibits. All of the activities going on throughout the city definitely help distract me from the fact that I dislike summer.

(And boy is there a lot to do in the city!).
