Let’s face it, as a college student, you’re constantly pressed for time. Between classes, study groups and hanging out with friends, it can be hard to remember to sit back, settle down and relax. Even though I gradated college back in 2014, I still find myself constantly wishing there were more hours in the day. Somedays there just isn’t enough time to fit everything you want to do into your schedule but there’s one thing you should never have to miss out on: yummy foods! Back when I was college, whenever I was feeling stressed or if I had a few minutes between classes, I alway made sure to grab a snack (or two.) Even though I had a campus meal plan three out of my four years of college, sometimes you don’t want ‘campus food.’ Sometimes you want something special. Today I’m sharing three of my favorite simple snack recipes. Since all of these yummy treats take less than 10 minutes to prepare, they’re the perfect quick snack for college students on the go! One of the things I miss most about being in college, besides my friends (I’m so HAPPY I got to reunite with my two best friends from college in DC last week), is dorm shopping! It was always so fun picking out bed sheets, cute decor and coming up with a color scheme/dorm theme for each new school year. This week I teamed up with Target Back to College to turn my bedroom into my ultimate dream dorm room! This couldn’t have come at a better time because my room was in dire need of a makeover. After graduating and moving back home in 2014, I decided to convert our basement into my  ‘studio apartment’ complete with a little home office area and a bedroom/living area. Essentially it’s like living in a dorm since my desk/office area, dresser, bookcases and bed are all in one open space/room. College dorms are basically broken up into three main ‘spaces’: your bed, your desk area and your dresser. Since I was designing my dream ‘dorm room,’ these are the three spaces in my bedroom I focused on. Continue reading

The Ultimate Back To College Packing Checklist

Remembering everything you need to pack for college can be a daunting task. Back in 2010, I vividly remember panicking because I was afraid I didn’t pack the right essentials for my freshman year of college. Since I went out of state for college and couldn’t just drive home if I forgot something (it would have been an almost 10-hour drive), it was vital that I made sure to pack everything I needed. The only problem was, I didn’t know what I needed. I was the first person in my house to go out of state for college. My sister, who was a junior in college at the time, went to school in Chicago so financially it was better for her to just live at home. My mom also went to college in Chicago so I was the first person to experience dorm life and essentially “go away” for college. One of the things that really helped guide me was the college packing checklist from Target, which was located in the college/ school supply section. I loved how everything was broken down into different categories (i.e. kitchen supplies, dorm decor.) Throughout my four years of college, I learned what items were a MUST and what items to leave at home. Today I’m sharing my ultimate back to college packing checklist! Continue reading

Organization is KEY in college. Seriously, if there’s one thing I learned during my four years of college it’s that college is all about punctuality. From homework, to making sure you make it to your advisor meeting to getting to class on time, college is all about setting a schedule and following it. Now that’s not to say that there aren’t any spur of the moment moments in college, but it’s always better to plan things out. Besides, an effective school, studying and work schedule leads to more free time! Here are five easy tips for staying organized in college:
