I know I’m a little late with some of my New York posts (it’s been almost a month since I went to NYC) but bare with me, I had so many photos to go through. I also had a mini scare two weeks ago because I thought I lost one of my memory cards (thankfully I found it!) After this post, I’ll only have one more New York related adventure to share with you all!
Like I said in some of my previous posts, thanks to the wonderful folks at CityPass, I was able to visit a handful of amazing New York tourist destinations! One of those places was the lovely American Museum of Natural History. I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted to visit this museum! While the museum itself was lovely, I do have one complaint. Why is the museum SO DARK?!
Darkness aside, here are some of my favorite snaps from my trip to the American Museum of Natural History:
It’s been FOREVER (three months to be exact) since I’ve posted a ‘This Place’ post but don’t worry, I haven’t abandoned this series. In fact, I’ve decided to revamp this series completely. Starting with the next ‘This Place’ (which will be ‘This Place 10’), each post will focus on an actual PLACE (instead of just inspirational home decor photos!) I’ll be highlighting everything from local Chicago shops, museums, cites I visit, restaurants, anything goes (if there’s something in particular you’d like to see highlighted, make sure to comment down below!)
These last few weeks I’ve been feeling extra inspired by Pinterest
home decor boards because I’m gearing up to move into my FIRST APARTMENT! I’m shooting for a December 1st move in (I would move out sooner but I have a few trips planned this fall and I don’t want to move into my place and then leave for a trip!) I’ve been looking at apartments NON-STOP for the last month and I’ve FINALLY narrowed it down to the neighborhood I want to move too. It’s crazy, I never knew how much work went into moving out! You have to go apartment hunting, go to apartment viewings (which I love), you have to start thinking about furniture and how you’re going to decorate things! It can get exhausting (and I haven’t even moved yet!)
I really LOVE these four spaces pictured above! I can’t wait until I have my little record corner like in the first picture! How adorable is that half blue and green door? What a clever little idea (I think I might have to do something like that for my actual home when I get older!) I’m just SO EXCITED to be moving out! Now every time I go anywhere, I find myself buying little knick knacks and trinkets for my future place! Moving countdown: THREE MONTHS!!!
Wintour Wonderland // Lamps & Ladders // Woodstock // Black and White
Today is a big day: Simplysinova.com turns ONE YEARS OLD! I can’t believe it’s been a year already. I remember last year wondering how the heck I was going to start a blog. I didn’t know anything about buying domain names, what hosting sites were or what topics I would cover on the blog. In fact, I almost didn’t start this blog because I had two internships last summer that took up a lot of my time. I’m so glad I decided to go through with it because I’ve grown to love blogging! I’ve meet so many wonderful people and gained so many amazing opportunities through blogging! I worked with some of my favorite companies and really gained some marketing experience!
Now onto today’s ‘This Place’! I love the first picture! That Anna Wintour magnet (I’m guessing it’s a magnet?) is so adorable. I’ve been looking up Anna Wintour accessories on Etsy all day and I think I found something similar. I really like the ladder in the second photo. It just adds a little something to the room. The last two pictures are so great and even though they are polar opposites, they still look they can be in the same house. I really like the white walls and cluttered feel of the third room (I love built-in bookcases) and the simple black walled corner in the last photo is very cute.
What do all these rooms have in common? Plants! Plants bring such life (literally) to a space. When I decorate my future home I want to incorporate plants into almost very room, especially the living room! I’ve been doing a lot of research on ‘easy plants’ to take care of. So far I’ve found that Grape Ivy, English Ivy and Peace Lilies are good low maintenance plants to start off with.
Besides plants, I really want my house to have that ‘lived in’ vibe. I want there to be books scattered throughout my house, the walls to be covered in paintings and art, the tables to be filled with magazines and the shelves to be filled with records and Funko Pops. I want my house to look very vintage but still feel very modern!
